Holiday Post #4: Festive Casual Looks

Hello beautiful people,

Family dinners, tea parties, brunch are just a few occasions during which you're expected to be fashionable in a more laid back manner. So, on today's holiday post, I decided to share with you a foolproof guide for your low profile, casual social gatherings.

A good party dress is a fairly easy option for a fancy glamorous party but the mind-boggling question is what to wear on a casual get-together where you still wanna look festive and properly dressed up for the occasion but at the same time effortless and cool? Your look must be neither too glitzy glammy nor jeans-and-tee type of wear. It stands right in the middle and it's the perfect casual chic with a festive accent. Here's few ideas that just might help you achieve that:

The first look will be a perfect fit for the romantic souls out there who enjoy their powder-pale garments and all things girly and cute. I love wearing nude colors all year long, because they just look so classy and polished. The key piece here is the embellished sweater which has become a holidays staple over the past couple of seasons as it amps up any simple and cozy look.

How To: Casual & Festive

With this outfit below I aimed to cater to the edgier, more rock 'n' roll Cara Delevigne-inspired crowd. The metallic skirt, black booties and suede jacket really help elevate the ensemble and make it look even more hip and modern.

If you love a sleek, put together look, this one's for you. A perfectly tailored jacket with interesting details and a pair of skinny jeans are your best friends for a no-fuss dinner party-ready look.

How To: Casual & Festive

This one is definitely in my comfort zone because this type of look is what I would typically wear to a casual party or brunch. A simple knit fit and flare dress and a statement piece of jewelry just can't go wrong.

How To: Casual & Festive

Although the previous one was what I would normally wear, this one below is my favorite of them all. I've been all over midi skirts and turtlenecks this season so why not sport a cute combo like that for your holiday occasion? Try a metallic finish for your top or bottom and you'll be good to go.

extra TIPS:

I've added some makeup suggestions to my sets already and I have a whole post dedicated to Holiday Makeup but if I could say one or two quick tips these would be: keep it soft and neutral and venture into the world of deep lipsticks. A wine-colored hue or a rosy brown are ideal for this time of the year.

Focus on one piece of jewelry. One statement cuff or one statement necklace or a pair of bold earrings will give an extra oomph to a casual look but don't overdo it, you don't wanna look out of place.

For a fun hairstyle, aside from soft waves or straight, try a fishtail braid or a texturized ponytail. Steer clear of the perfectly put together chignons.

Neutrals are pretty but a pop of color is always a nice addition. Not everything has to be ideally color-coordinated.

Metallic accessories are a fantastic choice for a subdued touch of sparkle.

A printed scarf is absolutely necessary for a cozy, wintry chic look.

Did you like any of these ideas in particular? Let me know!

  2. I love the idea of mixing a fancier sequin skirt, with a casual oversized sweater. That would definitely be my pick for the holidays...you look super chic, but also with a loose fitting sweater you are able to eat as many Christmas treats as you'd like! Right up my alley :-)
