Fall 2015 Ready-To-Wear Highlights: Part 2

Hello again everyone,

It's been a while since I last posted.. shoot me. The reason for that is I wanted to do a mega post that includes all of my favorite collections from London, Milan and Paris Fashion week. For my NYFW recap check out this link

I gathered once again the collections that stood out the most during fashion month. Read my thoughts on them below:

Roksanda

Roksanda Ilincic presented a phenomenal collection in London fashion week. Ilincic's woman is sophisticated but there's always a touch of drama to her looks. The knit dresses were wonderful, the geometry was eye-catching, the palette sultry but edgy too. A 40s elegance was ever apparent in this runway show but it felt current and in no way dated. Turtlenecks and mid length hemlines stand strong yet another season and I couldn't be happier.

Christopher Kane

Christopher Kane is one of the most fashion-forward designers out there. He never hesitates to push the boundaries a bit further. There's always something new to be seen in each show. The range he showed at London Fashion week was outstanding. From ethereal mesh dresses to sophisticated ruffled blouses to duo chrome velvet gowns to artsy lace pieces, this collection was one that shouldn't be missed from a recap like this one. The freshness of his designs pave the way for even older fashion houses to update and meet the needs of the modern girl. Great work by all aspects.

Prada

Milan fashion week was kinda underwhelming for me. The Prada collection though was one that hit home. Feminine, sophisticated but colorful and fierce. The most predominant elements in the collection were 60s two pieces, leather gloves, layering and bold jewelry.Count me in.

Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney is a designer that large affordable fashion chains like ZARA adore. And why is that? Because the fashion that McCartney delivers is exactly what the cool girl next door needs: easy, effortless, polished. It's the type of fashion that works 24/7. This collection in particular featured cosy knit dresses that felt kinda loose and almost undone, chic workwear as well as embellished shift dresses and two pieces that give "casual dressy" a new meaning. I especially adore the deconstructed version of the LBD and pearl necklace look. Talk about giving a classic a new twist.

 Givenchy

Opposite McCartney's minimal casual goodness, you have Riccardo Tisci's goth glam. His collection was once again dark, vampy and sexy while the silhouettes were kept classic and ladylike. There definitely was an obvious bullfighter theme and a Spanish fierceness to this collection. Thigh high slits, calf boots, peacock prints, red velvet and face jewelry made the runway look as if it was on fire.

Carven

This one's a people-pleaser, especially for the young crowds. 20somethings will relish in A line floral skirts, electric blue pants, fluffy sweaters and tailored shirts. The late 60s/early 70s trend continues its path onto the Fall collections and it is undoubtedly one of the most flattering trends we've seen in a while. Carven keeps it cool; the romance is definitely restrained in this collection. Caillaudaud and Martial make sure their girl has her head in the clouds but also her feet on the ground. Sounds right up my alley.

Giamba

On to another collection for the youth, Giambattista Valli's Giamba line is a breath of fresh air. The collection definitely felt more Spring than Fall but who can deny the allure of a good floral print regardless of season? I know I can't. Beautiful, ethereal florals are my soft spot and if I can don them year round, you bet I will. Flower power was definitely the theme of Valli's collection and it felt what it was supposed to feel: young and light. Once again, the clothes evoked the 70s but in a rather elegant, updated manner.

Balenciaga

All eyes were focused on this Balenciaga collection because everyone's simply fascinated with Alexander Wang and what he will do next. It's interesting to see the marriage between luxury (Balenciaga) and street (Wang). Wang proves he can nail both in his own way. The clothes were again divine. Where the silhouettes were hard, the materials were lush and polished. A lot of detail went into this collection, without making it "heavy" or unedited.

Miu Miu

To me, Miu Miu is the more girly, carefree version of Prada. While this collection didn't have many fans, I simply adored it. The explosion of color and print was eye-candy. I loved it because it was sophisticated and preppy but with a wink. I love the Miu Miu girl because she's put together and classic but not too serious. After all, girls just wanna have fun.

Lanvin

There's a special place in my heart for Lanvin. Alber Elbaz is an artist to me. Lord knows I've lusted after his pretty dresses and bold jewelry. I'm a girly girl at heart. But I do love me some drama and edge from time to time. As I'm growing up, I'm starting to look for different elements to my looks than I did before. I now find myself looking for easy sexiness, not the vulgar kind, but the I-just-threw-this-on kind. Elbaz's maximalism is a sight for sore eyes. So in line with the boho, je-ne-sais-quoi look. The man knows his clothes. End of story.

Which collections were the most memorable for you? Please do share below!
