6 Gorgeous Makeup Looks for Prom 2015

Hello readers!

What have you all been up to? Have you found your prom date yet? If you haven't, sorry I can't help you with that BUT if you don't know what makeup look to go for, I'm your gal. Besides who needs a prom date, when you can slay those peasants with your killer looks. (In case you didn't figure that out, I'm sassy today).

Around this time of the year youtubers come up with their own prom look ideas, but they're always the same. So I said to myself, I gotta show these folks how it's done. Jk.

If you're too old for prom like I am, hopefully you can use these ideas for any special occasion where you want to look photo ready and elegant.

The Bright Lip

The minute I saw this image of Keira Knightley, I fell in love with her lip color. I just had to know the exact shade. Lucky for me and you, I found it and it's Diva by Chanel. Quite pricey, but having tried the formula, it's simply divine. It's a lip color that's a bit tricky to pull off, so you need it to be really good quality for it to not look cheap. When dealing with bright shades like this, you want them to blend with your natural lip color, so make sure they don't have a lot of white in them and that they don't look/feel too plastic.

TIPS:

Apply lashes to the outter corners of the eyes to make them look more ellongated and flirty.

Keep the skin matte. A bright lip in conjuction with a very dewy, highlighted complexion can look like it's too much.

Keep the brows full and groomed, because with a bright lip you want to balance out the definition on the rest of your face.

Keep the eyes neutral, if you don't want to look like an 80s disco queen.

Metallic Smokey Eyes

A classic smokey eye is hard to overlook, that's for sure. It never goes out of style, and it's very easy to do. That's what's great about it, it doesn't have to look perfect. In fact, it's better when it doesn't look as flawless, because it looks more effortless. It compliments every eye color, every skin tone.

TIPS:

The easiest way to achieve a smokey eye is by using a cream eyeshadow. Just smudge it with your finger.

Apply a metallic liner to the top and bottom lashline to add a little sparkle.

Soften the edges with a q-tip.

This is one of the very few looks where lashes are not that important. The focus is on the lids and the lashline is quite defined, so falsies are unecessary.

Contouring looks beautiful with this look.

Keep the cheeks and lips neutral, if  not bare.

The Plush Red Lip

Possibly the most classically feminine look ever. However there are always new ways to wear a red lip.

TIPS:

Find a shade of red that flatters your skintone. I would advise you to not go too blue or too yellow. Dior's 999 is a classic, universal shade that I don't think you can go wrong with.

Don't over-accentuate the arch of your brows. A red lip can make you look older, so you want to keep the rest of the features looking young and fresh.

Skip the winged liner for once if you don't want to go for the same old pin up look.

Skip the rosy cheeks, and go for a subtle sunkissed look which will add some color to your complexion without making you look like a china doll.

A few individual lashes add a nice touch to this look without being too much.

The Classic Beauty

This is the most universal look of all. I think a woman can wear this wherever and she will look put together and appropriate. It's not too much or too little. If you're in doubt, just wear this and 10 years from now, when you look at your prom pictures you'll be happy with your choice.

TIPS:

When doing your eyeliner, go for a small flick. Don't get too creative. (lol)

Keep the lower lashline minimal, don't smoke things out too much. You want the eyes to look rested and open.

A strong brow really helps frame the face.

Keep cheeks and lips matchy. Peachy pink shades flatter pretty much everyone.

A few individual lashes can go a long way. Add a few to your outter corners for a natural flutter.

Don't over-contour or over-bronze. Being lighthanded is key for this demure makeup look.

The Modern 60s

The 60s are probably my favorite era in fashion and makeup. Love the wide-eyed look and A-line dresses. I love a vintage element to my look without looking too retro. In the 60s the makeup was a lot heavier, more matte and powdery. Today the formulas are much thinner, more natural and skin-like. I think it's best to combine the dramatic eye makeup with a natural skin for a more youthful and updated look.

TIPS:

To make sure your wings are even, start the line from the lower lashline drag it upward.

Use a gel liner because it's easier to work with when doing a dramatic eye.

Don't be afraid to build up the colors in the crease. Use matte, earthy eyeshadows.

A liquid highlighter adds a nice subtle glow to the high points of the face.

If you really wanna go for the 60s look, feel free to add falsies, but the bold liner is enough to make an impact if you don't want to.

A natural mouth is a MUST with this look.

The Bronze Goddess

As we're heading towards summer, every girl wants to own this look. A sultry smokey eye, a tan complexion, a bit of glow on the cheeks can make every woman feel like a goddess. I love a slightly undone, messy hairdo with this makeup. Go for a fishtail braid, or a messy ponytail. Some texturizing product can really help.

TIPS:

Plum tones on the eyes make them look sultry and seductive.

Go for glowy cheeks. A rosy flush and a powder highlighter will enliven your complexion.

Don't pack on the bronzer, if you don't wanna look like an oompa loompa. I would suggest tanning all over a few days in advance. If you don't want to go that far, try a product that will give your face a natural tint.

Accentuate the shape of your lips with a natural lip liner and apply a balm on top for a fuller look.
