Runway To Bathroom: Les Copains F/W 2016-17 Makeup Look

Hello my lovely people,

I am so excited to start - or rather follow up on - this new series of beauty blog posts. Last year I did another recreation of a runway inspired makeup look which you can find here with a detailed how-to guide on bronzing and strobing for an effortless, slightly 70s inspired sunkissed look.

Today I have for you one of my favorite, go-to makeup looks that looks polished yet unfussy at the same time. No need to have major makeup artist skills to master this. Just a couple of brushes, a cleansed moisturized face and a few handy products! This look requires a very small amount of makeup products which is no surprise since runway makeup is usually very minimal and lighthanded. No contouring, not a bazillion different eyeshadows, no crisp winged eyeliner, nada. Just easy, chic, glowing makeup.

Here how to achieve it:

STEP 1:

First and foremost make sure you start off with a cleansed and moisturized complexion. This is very important so your base goes on smooth and you get the most natural effect possible. Next, I apply my Clarins Instant concealer under the eyes and on any imperfections. You might wonder why I apply concealer before foundation but I found that this particular concealer actually blends better into (hydrated) skin than foundation. The result is way less cakey that way.

Then I go in with my beloved L'Oreal Nude Magique cushion foundation (which is already on its last leg sadly). I used the applicator it comes with to pack on the coverage only where necessary.

STEP 2:

And now on to the eyes: I use my KIKO long lasting stick in the shade 05 and apply straight from the crayon. I blend the edges using a fluffy brush and a touch of Makeup Geek's Cupcake eyeshadow. The light wash of dusky pink around the edges definitely adds to that romantic element that the Les Copains beauty look does. Make sure to apply the eyeshadows on the lower lashline as well and be quite liberal with it, since the original look features a rather heavy lower lashline.

STEP 3:

The runway look gives the impression that there is no liner at all, but I thought I'd do some subtle lining that almost blends into the lid shade. I chose the 'Busted' shade from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette but really, any deep shimmery plum color would work equally as well. I dipped a thin eyeliner brush into the shade and traced along both the upper and lower lashline, making sure to stay really close to the lash roots. That extra bit of purple on the lower lashline gives off an almost droopy, 30s look.

STEP 4:

Next I put on a few coats of my favorite mascara at the moment, the Essence I Love Extreme Crazy Volume one in the waterproof version. Again I insisted a bit more than usual on the lower lashes in order to achieve the desirable result. I also filled in my brows a bit using Rimmel's eyebrow pencil.

I went ahead and reapplied a little bit of concealer to clean up the undereye area.

STEP 5:

Eyes = done! Moving on to blush: for this look I chose another firm favorite of mine, MAC's Pro-Longwear blush in 'Stay Pretty'. It adds such a girly romantic pink flush to your cheeks that brightens ups your complexion instantly. Ideal for fair skintones. (I skipped on the bronzer since it didn't look like the model was wearing any. But feel free to adapt this to your own liking.)

For my highlight, I went with e.l.f.'s 'Moonlight Pearls' baked highlighter which is cheap as chips but offers the most beautiful champagney-goldy glow. A few light sweeps on the high points of the face and we're nearly done.

and last but not least..

My favorite part: Dior's Lip Glow (the original one). I probably sound like a broken record at this point, but this is seriously the best lippie ever. It makes your lips look juicy, plumped and rosy with zero effort. I could apply this without a mirror and it'd still look phenomenal.

and finito!

I feel like this look is easy enough for the daytime but also sultry enough for the evening. It's such a great day-to-night kind of look, you could easily sport it at both the office and the pub.

And that is the aftermath..

Which Fall runway makeup look would you like to see me recreate?

  3. I love this kind of posts! I'd love to see more of them in the future :D Although I don't follow runway trends, I like discovering them as you recreate them. The eye look is super pretty, I love that dramatic purple in the lower lash line! And the Dior lipstick does look amazing, so natural and easy to use! For a night time look I would suggest you use a dark lipstick, it would indeed be a really easy day to night transition look! :D
