Fashion Dupes: Fall/Winter '17-'18 Edition

Hello my lovely fashionable people,

It's been a hot minute since my previous post but I've been working on something that  required a lot of my energy and time and I wanted to present you something complete and well-rounded.

Fashion "dupes" are a rather controversial topic among the fashion community. Some claim that it's essentially theft of intellectual/industrial property and disrespectful to the original creators. Others say that they're democratizing fashion. Note that we're not talking about "fakes" here and illegal products that pretend to be of a certain brand in order to make money off the label. This is about high street brands namely Zara and Mango that draw their inspiration from designer items with much heftier price tags.

The key difference is that while wildly similar, the much more affordable versions of these high end goods are usually not quite the same. The design is "inspired by" the original not a downright copy. And naturally, the quality and craftsmanship are nowhere near the same. But sometimes when an item is too trendy to be considered an investment, is it worth it to dish out hundreds if not thousands of euros for what's gonna be a one-season affair? That's up for discussion. While there's no doubt that a camel coat or a Chanel bag never lose their value, there's plenty in the market now that might as well be a fashion fad and nothing more.

For the most of us however, it's not even a case of "investing" or not. For a college student, "investing" in the real Miu Miu pair of flats isn't even an option. So if Bershka offers a somewhat similar cute version, this uni student will take it.

So to cut this short, here is my round-up of the best fashion dupes on the market right now.

Get Them For Less: The Season's Hottest Items

Well hello there,

I know it's been freaking ages since I last posted. I went to Vienna to see my best friend, then I came back and then there was the (Orthodox) Easter holidays and after that I just felt uninspired. There's literally no excuse other than the latter. I just wasn't feeling piped or excited enough for something in order to write about it.

However as summer approaches day by day (not today though - it's gloomy and gray and gross), I'm starting to regain my enthusiasm and inspiration for all things fashion and beauty so brace yourselves for what's to come!

For today's post I came up with what I deem to be a pretty original idea: I present you the high-street dupes (as in Zara, Mango, H&M) of the season's hottest items. Because let's be honest, trends are fleeting and if money isn't exactly oozing out of your pockets, there's no reason why you should spend 500 on the shoe du moment (unless you just want to - which is an entirely different deal). However I'd never encourage someone to purchase a cheap imitation from an illegal source. We're not talking about knock-offs here, just affordable items that make for great alternatives to their net-a-porter counterparts.

Just a few ideas..

So I was thinking how I haven't posted one of my polyvore sets in a long time now, and since I made this new one that I'm really proud of, I thought that maybe I should start posting them again.

I really hope you liked my latest post and outfit, I've put much heart and soul into this blog so I really hope the whole thing pulls off. The truth is I want this to be a mixture of outfits, stylistic advice, news etc., so I'm sort of re-inventing this. There are like, SO many things going through my mind right now and pretty much ALL the time and I'm kinda stressed up 'cause I really, really, REALLY need this to work. I need more followers to join, and more comments and views and everything and I wish and pray and work my ass off everyday to make this happen.

So please, if you're reading this, take the time to write a comment, or just hit 'like' or whatever. You have no idea how much it means to me everytime you do.

You can't fly away, electric bird.

So, the reason why I love this set so much is that it's simple and complicated at the same time. It contains like so many different textures and shapes and it ends up looking so neat, I love it. I don't mean to brag, but- oh well.  I think it's because of the pants. These gorgeous Gucci pants that I never thought I would like that much. I was never a big fan of wide-leg pants or pajama pants or palazzo pants or whatever they call them anyway. I always wear skinny jeans or something more cuffed towards the ankle. But these are cropped and they look like a midi-length skirt (kinda) which is HUGE this season (thanks to Hannah McGibbon for that) but still it's pretty clear that they're pants. And the color is epic.

The top (by Erdem, LOVE Erdem) is so ruffled and cute, I kind of balances out the straight clean line of the pants with a little bit of volume.

And last but not least, these pumps, by Zara, yes, the ones that you've seen everywhere and on every fashion blogger with respectable fashion sense. These cutout pumps are the perfect missing piece to this fashion puzzle, and I guess these pumps do actually go with everything, so I guess they're the perfect match to any outfit.

The bag is just a metallic touch that takes it up a notch.

Hope you like it!

Enough with my rumbling already!

xoxo

Spring Summer 2010 Trends: Ladylike

Every woman loves all the garments and the shapes that flatter her silhouette and embrace her curves. So this summer, designers are determined to make all ladies feel sexy and beautiful. Always remember, love your body, don't distort it. Believe me, all these dresses you see below would look so much better on a curvy silhouette rather than a bunch of skin and bones (no offense to the models, whom I really admire, honestly)
check them out below (hope I haven't got you all bored with the SS trends post it's just that I love making these type of posts :P)

Spring Summer 2010 Trends: Minimal

One of the things I love about summer is the simplicity and the clean feel of everything. You don't need to wear too much to look good. No accessories required, nothing's over the top. Sometimes just the lines and the shape of a pretty dress can outshine the bold prints and the eye-catching colors. Minimal garments are all we need for a beautiful, fresh, youthful summer.

Spring Summer 2010 Trends: Embellishments

Don't you just adore the glitz?? Every woman wants to feel glamorous and shiny so sparkly clothes help her feel like a superstar. Summer is a season when everybody wants to be fab and glowing. So, many designers decided it was necessary to fill their collections with red carpet-like clothes and embellished body-con dresses. What's more glam than a lil' bit of sequins and metallic texture on a pretty dress? Well, this season sparkles were added to pieces other than just dresses, like cardigans, leggings and even whole suits.
Out of all the glitz-mania, I decide to post a few snapshots of my favorite collections which praised this style:

Gucci S/S 2010 RTW

In this Gucci collection, the sleek figures, the cut-outs and the futuristic elements were dominant. Skinny jeans, artsy dresses (which reminded me a lil' bit of Alexander McQueen)and impressive heels and accessories were forming the main trends in this spring/ summer pret-a-porte show.
