How To Update Your Style Mid-Winter

This time of year can be pretty boring. The inspiration runs thin. The weather is cold and dull, the holidays are well behind us, work and commitments beckon and you're stuck in your routine where nothing feels new or exciting.

Fashion can reflect that too. You're kind of over the glam Christmassy looks, the dark palette, the heavy knits but you're still (what feels like) eons away from spring and summer.  So what can you do to freshen up your mid-winter wardrobe? While the sales are still on, you can snag a couple of versatile pieces that will make the transition from winter to early spring that much easier.

THE ROMANTIC BLOUSE

The Victorian blouse isn't going anywhere anytime soon. This ultra-romantic style will continue dominating our top choices in 2017 so grab a couple on sale now.

November Of Style: A Series of OOTDs

Hello my festive readers,

How are you doing? I hope you enjoyed my last Holiday Makeup post, because I really loved writing it. Today's post is not gonna feature a lot of written content, just a few of my favorite looks that I wore during November. Back in August I decided to do these types of posts every once in a while because it's more interesting to feature a bunch of looks in one go, rather than dedicate a whole post to one outfit.

From Summer To Fall: 7 tips to step into the season

Here we are again..

Tan lines fade and suitcases are finally being put away as we slip into September's dullness and new beginnings..

Remember when I did a post last season on how to achieve a smooth style transition from winter to spring? (You can check it here) Well, I felt it was only appropriate to do a post on now to avoid the awkwardness of having nothing to wear when the weather  does not say summer but not exactly scream autumn either. For me at least, changing up my style over that period of time helps me avoid the bore that September can be and I want to share with you 7 fast and economical ways you can get that yourself.

SANDALS vs OXFORDS/BALLERINAS

While sandals scream beach and summer dresses, ballerinas and oxford flats are the perfect preppy answer to the question what shoes to go for. Time to pull those out again and give your summer wardrobe a twist.

From Winter To Spring: 8 tips to step into the season

Happy first day of Spring my lovely readers!
I am so excited that the weather is starting to get sweet again, makes me crave summer even more!
However, transitions from season to season can be tricky, as the weather and our mood changes.
Those first weeks of spring can be very confusing, I am constantly questioning myself "is this sweater too heavy or is this shirt too light", "if I wear this I'll be hot by midday and if I don't I'll be cold in the evening", "is this print too summer-y, is this scarf too wintry" and so on.
I'll make an effort to help you through this frustrating process by giving you a few tips on how to change up your wardrobe and how to update your style in order to adjust.

HEAVIER COATS vs JACKETS

Depending on where you live, heavy duty outerwear might still be necessary but in sunny Greece, it's time to put those away and bring out jackets of all sorts. I love a good leather jacket for a toughened up look or a structured blazer for a sophisticated outfit that works from morning till night. My suggestion is if a coat is too warm for the daytime but a lighter jacket is too light for the evening, wear a cardigan underneath your jacket, that way you won't be cold when the sun sets and you still will be able to take it off when you feel hot.

CHUNKY KNIT SCARVES vs LIGHTER PRINTED ONES

Chunky knit scarves are a winter wardrobe staple but in spring they feel kinda meh. Swap those with a more flowy, lighter version with a cute print on it.

SWEATERS vs SWEATSHIRTS

Time to let go of this Christmas-y sweaters that scream winter and go for a fun, printed sweatshirt instead. It's light enough for a warm day and provides enough coverage for the evening (especially if layered). Sweatshirts have made a huge comeback and this is the season to don them.

TEXTURE vs PRINTS

A loaded texture, like jacquard for example, can be too overpowering as we go into spring, a print is what the season calls for. Less is more!

STRUCTURE vs COMFORT

Winter style is a lot about structure, heavily layered looks and thicker fabrics. Spring and summer are all about comfort. Who wants to walk around in a skin tight leather skirt when the temperature is 100 degrees?

PLAID vs POLKA DOTS

I love me a good old flannel shirt but polka dots are so much cuter for spring, don't you think? To double the fun, combine the two prints in one outfit. Mixing and matching is key to a good, unpredictable look.

BOOTS vs BALLET FLATS

I love my boots but I've grown so tired of them after wearing them for 4 months straight. I'm definitely ready for some comfy flats that won't make my feet sweat.

DARK PALETTE vs LIGHT PALETTE

I know black is an all-season color but it's time to lighten up. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping and I need to wear something that matches my mood more appropriately which means I gotta ditch those pretty but more sad burgundies and greys.
Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it!
Happy Spring everyone!

9 refreshing tips to change up your daily style

After several outfit posts, I decided to go back to my roots. I really wanted to make a post that hopefully some will find useful.

Now that the holiday season is long gone and we're slowly starting to crave some change but don't really have any spare money left for late-season hauls, it's time to get creative and start working with what we've already got. Sometimes I think I get so caught up in making plans to buy new clothes and accessories in my head that I forget to enjoy the things that I have in my closet. And that is such a bad rationale. In fact, there's absolutely nothing remotely rational about it. We spend loads of money on material goods and we don't even give ourselves the time to appreciate them. We're leading busy lives and we consume, consume, consume. So this time of the year I want to come up with every combination possible and put all those tips and trends I picked up on into effect.

So basically this article is meant to help you guys and also serves as a little reminder for myself to spice up our winter wardrobe and revamp our everyday style.

Let's begin, then:

1) Don colored tights

I'm pretty sure many of you have one or more pairs of stockings in a bright hue in a corner somewhere in your closet but never really took the risk to actually wear them. They're actually a brilliant accessory for those cold winter months and they will give your classic black skirt a twist. And even if you don't, H&M and Forever21 offer options that definitely won't break the bank.

2) Cuff your jeans

Give your old blue jeans a twist and add that extra 'cool' factor to your look by cuffing them at the ankle. Your shoes will show better and your outfit will look effortlessly chic.

3) Wear a large scarf as outerwear

No need for those "last chance" outerwear deals that flash on stores' websites and windows. A wide scarf can serve as either a cardigan or even a cape on a warmer day.

4) Tie your waist belt in a knot

Talk about giving your outfit a twist! A nice outfit is all about detail. And that is the simplest one you can add.

5) Layer a simple shirt with a crop sweater

Want to wear your crop top with pants but you're too cold or too self-conscious to bare your tummy? Style star Zoe Saldana executes layering perfectly. Take style cues from her look.

6) Layer necklaces

Statement necklaces have been a big (literally) thing lately but there's no need for you to rush to a store. Layer multiple necklaces to achieve that look and give life to your plain white tees and sweaters.

7) Add a cute, small purse to a basic outfit

Now that's a little bit more specific than the other tips but if you already have a bag like that, ditch that oversized city handbag and go for a smaller, cuter version that will make your go-to outfit more stylish and flirty.

8) Wear a colored piece against a total black look

Winter is THE time for total black looks. For a change, single out a colored piece and let it be the focus of your outfit.

9) Wear a collared shirt underneath a sweater

For classic, preppy look that would make Spencer from Pretty Little Liars proud next time wear a collared shirt with your sweater. If you wish, add a little collar accessory like the one in the picture.

Hope you enjoyed this post and found at least some of this interesting!

Sweater Weather

 photo DSC_0506_zps71979896.jpg

I know, I know you've seen that overused title about a hundred times by now "Sweater Weather" and then a girl below wearing duh, what else- a sweater! But, yesterday I got to listen to the whole record by The Neighbourhood ("I Love you") and I fell in love with every song! Needless to say, I've already listened to the whole thing 3 times. And now that song, "Sweater Weather", is totally stuck in my head!

So since I took some pictures wearing my new favorite sweater, a cropped sweater that is, by Topshop which I got my hands on last September in NYC I felt it was appropriate to make such a post.

The thing I love most about is the color! Ugh, it's so pretty! It's that candy pink or even a brighter baby pink color which is a huge trend for Fall/Winter and is a nice change from these dull winter hues. I kept the outfit simple as I wanted this color to stand out and be the central piece. I am not a fan of crop tops to be perfectly honest, but this one I love and I felt like it really amped-up my basic black pencil skirt.

It's too cold outside for angels to fly..

It's getting really cold out here and it's time to sport our thickest sweaters and fluffiest fur. However I can't hide from you that I'm starting to yearn for spring a little bit. I am really excited to see the new clothes on the store racks. It is sale at the moment here in Greece and as you can assume, I've been spending the last few weekends shopping. Today I bought a nice cropped sweater from Benetton and a light pink MAC lipstick.

The pictures I have for you here are from my trip to my summer house a couple of weeks ago; the outfit is pretty much casual and simple but it worked great for a walk outdoors on a chilly day.
