Dancing At Sunset

Hello again,

If you know me well then you surely know that sunset and twilight are my favorite time of the day. That serene, magical moment when it seems as though everything is painted in lilac and even the ugly can look charming, is unbeatable.

August in Greece: White & Blue

Hello my lovelies,

Summer's on its way out. The feeling's bittersweet... mostly bitter. I feel like this summer flew by so quickly but I'm still thankful for all the pretty memories. It was a quiet, relaxing time spent in one of the most beautiful places in the world, Greece.

Skopelos Day 5

Okay. I know I said that the previous post was my favorite from the Skopelos series but I've changed my mind. This is the one.

Skopelos Day 4

Well hello again,

I've been so appreciative of the positive feedback my last couple of posts have received and I thank you all for your kind words. During the last month I had almost forgotten how good it feels to blog.
I'm feeling very inspired at the moment and I'm hoping to expand my content and try out new things.
This has always been primarily a fashion blog, but a little change never hurt no one. How many outfits can one post till it gets repetitive and stale?

So on to day four of my Skopelos wanderings..

Skopelos Days 1 & 2

Hello there my lovely readers,

Where have I been? Well, as soon as my summer finals were over I headed out of town for a much needed vacation with the boyfriend. Our destination of choice: Skopelos island, Greece.

Summer Dresses For Everyone

Hello dear readers,

Did you miss me? (lie and say yes). I certainly missed you. Getting back into the game has been fun. I loved reading your positive feedback under my latest post, and I'm looking forward to pleasing you again.

I believe that the dress is the one summer piece of clothing that's the most covetable. It's easy to throw on, feminine and unfussy. The variety is so big it's sometimes hard to pick the styles that suit you. Below you'll find suggestions for different body types which might be helpful:

Summer Dresses For Everyone: Petite

Thank God over the years many clothing stores (although not enough) have created a line dedicated to petite ladies. Over at Asos there is a huge array of fab styles to choose from that has something for everyone. If yo have a very narrow frame, I would suggest to try out feminine, fit and flare cuts that give the illusion of curves in the right places. I think a midi dress is always a good option if you want to add height with the help of the right heel of course.

Vacation-Ready: 7 Covetable Looks

Hello my friends,

Today's post is a desperate effort for me to get my mind off of things. For those who don't know, I live in Greece, and we're facing some real hard times. Today is a day that will go down in history. If you've been following the world news then you must be acquainted with the situation here.

I don't want to get political right now, I've expressed my views via tumblr and twitter but this is not the place for that. Some of you may wonder, with everything that's happening to your country how do you have the desire to talk about such frivolous and vapid things like fashion, vacations and shopping?

You have to keep in mind that this website is international and it is directed to people from all around the world. That has always been my intent: to keep it open and accessible to everyone and that's why it isn't written in my mother language (I've always felt more at ease writing in English anyway). I know that not posting today wouldn't hurt anyone but as you can see I haven't updated this blog in a while. I needed to do it today because I need to get away. I need to have hope. I need to interact with people who don't have the same worries as me. I've been discussing politics 24/7 with the people around me and on social media, trying to get my point across, trying to make my voice heard in this madness. I did what I had to. Today is going to be a long day. If what it takes for me to get through it is to talk about shoes and sunscreen, then so be it.

My August Of Style

Hello everyone,

Fall has officially begun. I don't know about you, but as soon as September starts, even if the weather is so good it can fool you that it's still summer, something in the air whispers "autumn". I can't quite put my finger on it, but as soon as I come home from my summer vacation around the end of August I can already sense the difference in the things around me.

I decided to do a monthly post (or a weekly one, it will depend) with all or most of the outfits I wore during that month or week. Instead of doing posts every couple of days with only one outfit in each, which, in my humble opinion, can become quite boring, I thought it'd be best to gather many looks and feature them into one long post. I don't have the time to take HQ shots and edit them, therefore all the pictures are taken from my phone. I found that's the beauty of it. Nothing's photoshopped. In my photos it is just me wearing what I was actually wearing that day not what I chose to put on just for the sake of taking a few photos for the blog. It's authentic and realistic.

All these pictures are taken in Ermioni, in my summer house or outside.

From Summer To Fall: 7 tips to step into the season

Here we are again..

Tan lines fade and suitcases are finally being put away as we slip into September's dullness and new beginnings..

Remember when I did a post last season on how to achieve a smooth style transition from winter to spring? (You can check it here) Well, I felt it was only appropriate to do a post on now to avoid the awkwardness of having nothing to wear when the weather  does not say summer but not exactly scream autumn either. For me at least, changing up my style over that period of time helps me avoid the bore that September can be and I want to share with you 7 fast and economical ways you can get that yourself.

SANDALS vs OXFORDS/BALLERINAS

While sandals scream beach and summer dresses, ballerinas and oxford flats are the perfect preppy answer to the question what shoes to go for. Time to pull those out again and give your summer wardrobe a twist.

Travel/Vacation Style: Do's & Dont's

We're right in the heart of summer and for some of us, it already feels like we're living out of our suitcase.

Truth is for the past few weeks, I am in a semi-packed situation, since I've been traveling a bit, so unpacking and then re-packing sort of feels like a waste of time. This has been an incredible summer so far and July has been very kind to me. I finally start to feel like the pressure is lifted off my shoulders after a hectic spring/early summer with continuous exams and intensive studying sessions.

Feeling inspired by my own little trips and whereabouts I decided it was appropriate to make a post on my travel essentials/outfits and tips for packing the right things.

When packing I feel like always less is more. Especially when you're traveling abroad you have to keep in mind that your suitcase will come home with more stuff than what you originally packed.

Outfits

When it comes to clothing, less is more. Do not pack 'options'. Decide what you're going to wear and where and stick to that. I usually go for outfits that comprise of 2 pieces (meaning a top and a bottom) so I can mix and match during my trip.

As far as accessories go, do not overdo it. When you're traveling, especially during summertime, you should aim for comfort and casualty without looking basic of course. Take a couple of statement pieces as these will give life to your simple tees and shorts. As for shoes, I say no to heels unless I go somewhere really special. You always have to keep in mind the environment and the concept of the place where you're going to flaunt your outfit. If it's a Greek island, with its narrow, cobblestone pavements and rocky landscape, heels are definitely a no-no. If you're going to a glamorous metropolitan city like Paris or New York, or staying at a fancy resort, then why not don these fab stilettos?

Here's 2 outfits I wore when I was in Mykonos and Milos: (taken from my Instagram)

The Hottest Shoes Right Now

Hello my lovely readers,

It's a quarter past midnight and I'm thinking about shoes. I know I'm not the only one.

This season it's all about shoes. So many different styles are on trend right now that there's definitely something out there for you. I mean, which girl doesn't have a soft spot for some foot candy? (did that sound wrong?)

There's definitely a back-to-the-basics trend here, with the minimal strappy heels that look oh so complimenting, as long as your calves and ankles are slim. If you're on the chubbier side or really petite, I'd say skip the heels that cuff your leg at the ankle as they will make you look shorter and they will have a swallowing-your-legs effect. And that's not a very flattering look right there.

On the other end, colorful heels with prints and patterns of all sorts are the it-thing right now. They make the big statement in an outfit. They're the showstoppers. Totally on board with these.

I also noticed a tendency for lower, thicker heels which is such a relief for those busy girls who have to go about in town from day to night. I mean, 5 inch stillettos are as sexy as hell, but a nice pair of comfy yet stylish shoes is a lifesaver.

Lace-up heels are also making a big comeback right, usually with cut-out details and they're absolutely gorgeous. Aquazzura is mastering these. Another comeback are slingbacks, which I never thought I'd see again but I guess with fashion you can never say never.

As far as materials go, I spotted a lot of metallic details and lots of snakeskin too. Wood is also often used for the heel which is great for a summer, boho look.

And now check this little collection below I made on Polyvore featuring the most gorgeous shoes in stores right now. Click on the arrows at the sides to scroll through.

From Winter To Spring: 8 tips to step into the season

Happy first day of Spring my lovely readers!
I am so excited that the weather is starting to get sweet again, makes me crave summer even more!
However, transitions from season to season can be tricky, as the weather and our mood changes.
Those first weeks of spring can be very confusing, I am constantly questioning myself "is this sweater too heavy or is this shirt too light", "if I wear this I'll be hot by midday and if I don't I'll be cold in the evening", "is this print too summer-y, is this scarf too wintry" and so on.
I'll make an effort to help you through this frustrating process by giving you a few tips on how to change up your wardrobe and how to update your style in order to adjust.

HEAVIER COATS vs JACKETS

Depending on where you live, heavy duty outerwear might still be necessary but in sunny Greece, it's time to put those away and bring out jackets of all sorts. I love a good leather jacket for a toughened up look or a structured blazer for a sophisticated outfit that works from morning till night. My suggestion is if a coat is too warm for the daytime but a lighter jacket is too light for the evening, wear a cardigan underneath your jacket, that way you won't be cold when the sun sets and you still will be able to take it off when you feel hot.

CHUNKY KNIT SCARVES vs LIGHTER PRINTED ONES

Chunky knit scarves are a winter wardrobe staple but in spring they feel kinda meh. Swap those with a more flowy, lighter version with a cute print on it.

SWEATERS vs SWEATSHIRTS

Time to let go of this Christmas-y sweaters that scream winter and go for a fun, printed sweatshirt instead. It's light enough for a warm day and provides enough coverage for the evening (especially if layered). Sweatshirts have made a huge comeback and this is the season to don them.

TEXTURE vs PRINTS

A loaded texture, like jacquard for example, can be too overpowering as we go into spring, a print is what the season calls for. Less is more!

STRUCTURE vs COMFORT

Winter style is a lot about structure, heavily layered looks and thicker fabrics. Spring and summer are all about comfort. Who wants to walk around in a skin tight leather skirt when the temperature is 100 degrees?

PLAID vs POLKA DOTS

I love me a good old flannel shirt but polka dots are so much cuter for spring, don't you think? To double the fun, combine the two prints in one outfit. Mixing and matching is key to a good, unpredictable look.

BOOTS vs BALLET FLATS

I love my boots but I've grown so tired of them after wearing them for 4 months straight. I'm definitely ready for some comfy flats that won't make my feet sweat.

DARK PALETTE vs LIGHT PALETTE

I know black is an all-season color but it's time to lighten up. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping and I need to wear something that matches my mood more appropriately which means I gotta ditch those pretty but more sad burgundies and greys.
Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it!
Happy Spring everyone!

Spring 2014 Review: NYFW: Hits & Misses

I meant to publish this post earlier but it took me some more time to put it together because I wanted to make one really really good NYFW overview. I've never done anything like this before but since I got lots of free time right now I was able to stay updated with all the news from the New York catwalks. The funny thing is as soon as I left NYC, fashion week kicked off so keeping up with the new collections (thanks to style.com) was a way for me to still feel like I'm being up to date with the city's flow.

I've never experienced fashion week up close, but it always gave me this impression that it is one big celebration of the "inexhaustible variety of life", as Fitzgerald eloquently puts it, and what better city to host this variety other than New York.

Overall, I thought this fashion week was a hit. My list of favorite collections for Spring 2014 is far longer than my list for my least favorite collections. I believe many designers managed to maintain a steady progress, a great deal of them presented some exceptional pieces, some underwhelmed but didn't particularly disappoint and a few were just really bad.

Let's start, shall we:

THE GOOD:

Victoria Beckham

 photo VictoriaBeckham8_zpsac577a25.jpg

Okay, leave it to Victoria Beckham to present a perfectly put together collection with modern accents. What I love about Mrs. Beckham is her ability to create clothes that people are gonna wear. I love an artsy, complicated, mysterious collection BUT I think there is a certain art in making practical, flattering, wearable clothes that still make heads turn. I loved the geometry in this collection, the simplicity, the pleats, the flares. You could see this was a collection for the girly type of girl who is maturing and growing into a confident young woman. And there's nothing that I love more than a collection that conveys female empowerment.

Coral Carol

I know it is officially Fall BUT I can't help reminiscing my 92 days of summer..
So..my favorite color this season was definitely CORAL (and electric blue but electric blue is more of an all-season color). Major reason why it is my favorite: it brings out sun-kissed skin (..'s so hot will melt your popsicle oh oh oh oh"- irrelevant, sorry) I bought a two-piece swimsuit in that color and a couple of other things which were my all-day favorites. In the pictures below you wil notice the almost (too) obvious contrast with the bright dresses and the white wall behind. That's what I wanted to achieve. Isn't lovely? The magic threesome: coral dress-tanned skin-white backround. Greece is filled with all these white houses with blue doors and windows, it's like a trademark.

Not fed up with color blocking just yet...

Hello darlings!

Hope you had an amazing summer! Mine was epic and I am saddened to see it slowly fade away..in a few days it will be officially september and you know what that means...SCHOOL. Brrrrr..don't you feel it? It's the cold breeze that this mean word sends through you. But even if you don't have to go to school come fall, work or college or any other kind of project is waiting for you.

So these are some outfits I made before my vacations and I just wanted to show them to you. Color blocking was the biggest trend this season, I simply can't let go of it. Hopefully, I'll manage to incorporate it in my fall/winter wardrobe, just to brighten it up a little bit.

However I have tons of pictures to show you from my greek sunny summer, you'll love them.
I mean these photos are nothing next to the shots me and Katy made. Just wait and you'll see.
